Burgundy has long held a prestigious place in the world of fine wine, its celebrated vineyards producing bottles enjoyed everywhere from historic banqueting halls to the tables of Michelin-starred restaurants.
Among the region’s most storied names is the Hospices de Beaune, with a winemaking heritage spanning more than five centuries.
For many of us, a bottle of Hospices de Beaune is admired from a distance, like a colourful Renaissance tapestry. You are welcome to look, but please don’t touch.
Award-winning buyer and international judge Harry Crowther is well acquainted of that feeling, of gazing from afar.
Having spent his career handling the most exceptional bottles with care, he has never shaken the simple frustration: too many wines are too expensive, too much of a commitment to pop open, therefore, too many people never get to taste them.
Thankfully, Coravin’s Vinitas technology arrived as the answer to Crowther’s puzzling question.
Here, with Coravin, we have a system that allows it possible to pour wine in much smaller measures while preserving what remains for up to twelve months.
“Coravin is the magic that makes our vision possible,” says Harry, “and nowhere has that been clearer than in our work with an organisation as renowned as the Hospices de Beaune.” Until last year, he points out, bringing wines that regularly retail for more than £500 a bottle to a wider audience was unthinkable. “Now, we can make it a reality.”
In 2025, Crowther launched Tiny Wine, an online merchant built on one mission: to make exceptional wine easier to explore and importantly, enjoy.
How does it work?
The answer is a glass-sized pour of an extraordinary wine, sealed in a 100ml tube and delivered directly to your door.
Now, you no longer need to worry about opening a whole bottle of fine wine for one meal. In fact, you can enjoy six wines with one tasting pack.
A JOURNEY THROUGH BURGUNDYWorking with Domaine des Hospices de Beaune by Albert Bichot, Tiny Wine has curated a collection of six wines, including four Premier Crus, drawn from vintages stretching from 2019 to 2023. You can either buy them one at a time, or together as a full tasting package. The latter is a true sensory guided tour of the region, right from the comfort of your own home or a night in with friends and family.
This sensory tour is a journey between the wines, each one leading into the other, like the Roman roads of old Burgundy.
First, we begin in Meursault. The village-level Meursault 2022 Cuvée Loppin (£51 per tube) is a wine to be explored by itself.
After that, pour a glass of the Meursault-Charmes Premier Cru 2022, Cuvée Albert Grivault (£102) and taste one village from two perspectives. The same vintage with a very different classification.
Now onto the reds. Start with the youngest red in the collection, the Premier Cru 2023, Cuvée Clos des Avaux (£34), from Beaune.
Next, venture to Pommard, one of Burgundy’s best-known names, with the Premier Cru 2020, Cuvée Dames de la Charité (£35). Try it alongside the Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru 2020, Cuvée Fouquerand (£27), and you have the same vintage in two different villages, two expressions of the Côte de Beaune side by side.
Finish in the South. End your journey with the oldest vintage in the collection, the Cuvée Christine Friedberg 2019 (£30), in Santenay. This completes the four-wine red selection.
If you wish to taste the whole carousel of wines, the full collection is available for £279. With wines expected to ship in November, arriving just in time for Christmas, this tasting kit will make a perfect stocking filler for wine lovers or for you to enjoy as a cheeky tipple while you wrap your gifts.
Pre-orders are open now. Full details are at tinywine.co.uk/pages/hospices-lp.
