A new music-led café, cocktail bar and high-fidelity listening space has opened on London’s historic Denmark Street.

Moonrays occupies three floors at 7 Denmark Street, with two bars and a ground-floor terrace. The venue is designed for everything from daytime working and solo listening to drinks, group gatherings and late-night DJ sets.

Music is played through a specially tuned sound system, with a rotating programme of resident selectors and guest DJs spanning jazz, soul, funk, blues and music from around the world. A dedicated 15-seat Listening Room hosts intimate sessions centred on complete albums, vinyl playback and conversations with musicians, producers and other guests.

The food menu includes a series of toasted shokupan sandos alongside all-day sandwiches, including a BLT with jalapeño mayonnaise. Freshly roasted speciality coffee is served during the day.

Drinks include six signature cocktails, ranging from the citrus-led, gin-based Tallulah to the smoky whisky-based Nord. Classic cocktails, beer, sake, wine and alcohol-free drinks are also available.

Moonrays takes over the former Dram Bar site in a Georgian building closely connected with Denmark Street’s musical history. David Bowie secured some of his earliest professional representation at the address, while the Rolling Stones recorded across the street at Regent Sound Studios.

Moonrays is now open at 7 Denmark Street, London WC2H 8LZ.
