Mayfair institution Langan’s Brasserie will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a one-day event featuring retro dishes, live entertainment and selected food and drinks at 1976 prices.

Taking place on Tuesday 20 October, the celebration will turn the clock back to the year in which the restaurant first opened. Langan’s will welcome guests from 11am until late, with its menu, service and atmosphere drawing inspiration from its earliest days.

Several nostalgic dishes from the original Langan’s menu will return for the occasion, appearing alongside some of the brasserie’s long-standing favourites. Selected drinks will also be sold at their 1976 prices, although the restaurant has yet to reveal the full anniversary menu.

Entertainment will run throughout the day and evolve as the celebrations move from lunch into dinner and the evening. The programme will extend into the restaurant’s upstairs space, creating what Langan’s describes as a journey through its five decades at the centre of London’s dining and social scene.

Originally opened in 1976 by Peter Langan, actor Michael Caine and Michelin-starred chef Richard Shepherd, the brasserie became known as much for its celebrity clientele and lively atmosphere as its food.

Reservations for the anniversary celebration are due to be released in September, with further details to be announced.
