A new food shop from the team behind London Cheesemongers has opened in Belgravia, bringing farmhouse cheese, seasonal produce, charcuterie, wine and everyday groceries together under one roof.
London Epicerie, which has opened on Ebury Street, is the latest project from Jared Wybrow, founder of London Cheesemongers, and Raissa van Dijk. The pair hope to bridge the gap between specialist food shops and the convenience of the weekly grocery run, with an emphasis on provenance and independent British and European producers.
The selection draws on relationships established during more than a decade at London Cheesemongers. Cheese comes from producers including Somerset’s Westcombe Dairy and Alpine cheesemaker L’Etovas, while the shelves also feature bread from Alma Bakery, ancient-grain pasta from Noja Progetto Agricolo, Tuscan olive oil from Piro and traditional balsamic vinegar from Bonini.
Elsewhere, shoppers will find seasonal fruit and vegetables, charcuterie, small-batch dairy products, freshly roasted coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters, prepared foods and pantry staples.
Wine is another significant part of the offering. Former Brat head sommelier Daniel Garcia Thomas has curated a selection focused on growers with a strong connection to their region, spanning established and emerging wine regions and designed to complement the shop’s food offering.
The team has also brought nutritional therapist Edmund Swinburn on board to help shape its approach to nutrition and everyday eating, with staff available to offer guidance on ingredients, provenance and putting together meals.
Designed by Deidra Hodgson, the shop takes inspiration from traditional European food stores, combining light oak and warm stone with open shelving, crates and preparation areas. The result is deliberately functional and understated, putting the produce rather than decorative flourishes at the centre of the space.
For Wybrow and van Dijk, the ambition is to make high-quality ingredients feel less like an occasional indulgence and more like part of everyday food shopping – giving Belgravia residents somewhere they can pick up everything from tonight’s dinner and a bottle of wine to a wedge of farmhouse cheese.
London Epicerie is now open daily from 8am to 8pm at 65 to 69 Ebury Street, Belgravia, London SW1W 0NZ.
