Never one to shy away from an unexpected fusion, Xi Home Dumplings Bay is bringing a taste of Scotland to its Spitalfields kitchen this January, turning its weekly dumpling-making class into a Burns Night special.

Taking place on Sunday January 25, 2026, the two-hour class (3pm to 5pm) will be led by founder Wenjun alongside head chef Minnie. For this seasonal edition, guests will learn how to make haggis dumplings, combining traditional Chinese techniques with one of Scotland’s most recognisable ingredients.

On arrival, participants will be welcomed with a whisky cocktail, included in the ticket price, before being introduced to the history and cultural significance of dumplings in China. Chef Minnie will then guide the group through the full dumpling-making process, from preparing the dough to filling, folding, and cooking the dumplings with the haggis filling.

Once the cooking is done, guests can either sit down to enjoy their dumplings or take them home to share with friends or family.

For those who miss out on the class, Xi Home’s haggis dumplings will also be available as a special on the restaurant menu from January 25 to January 31, 2026.

The Burns Night dumpling-making class is priced at £65.71 per person and also includes personalised tips for recreating the dumplings at home, a Xi Home Dumplings Bay apron to take away, and a certificate — suitable for framing, or at least for showing off.

Spaces are limited, and booking is recommended for anyone keen on a Burns Night experience that does things slightly differently. Slàinte mhath.
