As we soldier on with our ‘healthy January’ efforts, many of us will be finding it harder and harder to stay on track as the month disappears. New research from Warburtons reveals that 63% of women will embark on a New Year health kick, but a whopping 45% of them expect to break the routine before the end of January. So maybe it’s time to consider adding some new excitement into your diet to help keep you on track?
One of the obvious things to give up whilst on a health kick is bread – the high-calorie, carb product that we all know and love. This is something I find really hard as I’m very much a savoury fiend and find it hardest to shake off sandwiches, crisps, cheese etc. So I was pretty delighted when the team at Warburtons got in touch to ask if we wanted to try their Sandwich Thins.
Sandwich Thins are a square-shaped bread product that I can only describe as being somewhere between bread and pitta. They are light and airy and are amazing when toasted. And the best part …? They are only 100 calories each!
As a way to spark interest and get the public’s taste-buds tingling for a healthier sandwich option, Warbutons has teamed up with East London street restaurant Caboose, to create the ultimate January saver sandwich – The Thinwich. You can read our review of Caboose (including the Thinwich) here. To get your hands on the Thinwich recipe, which uses smoked chicken, salad and a homemade salsa verde, click here.
One of my favourite ways to use Sandwich Thins is really simple – in the classic bacon sandwich on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Simply grill a few slices of lean bacon, toast your Thins and add your sauce of choice (I don’t think there’s any need for butter as the thins aren’t dry like bread). This makes a naughty weekend treat, that bit less naughty and that bit more enjoyable!
We’d love to hear your ideas for the best Thinwich. Send us your ideas and you could win a hamper of Sandwich Thins courtesy of our friends at Warburtons. Click here for more info and to enter the competition.
