What is it?
Amanzi is an exciting somewhat progressive (I dunno if this is the right word?) tearoom in Marylebone. They have a splendid selection of teas – ranging from the traditional loose leaf, all the way to the newer styles, such as bubble tea. They also do a little coffee, but everybody’s usually too busy drinking the tea to have noticed this
If you want to take a more indepth look at Amanzi – take a look at our review here
Anyway, here’s an idea of new drinks for Summer 2015 on the menu at Amanzi…
Where is it?
Amanzi Marylebone: 24 New Cavendish Street, W1G 8TX
How much are they?

Back at Amanzi
I’ve been keen on Amanzi since my first visit in 2013 . It was here that I had my first taste of delicious bubble tea, got to meet the lovely Marina and generally got the chance to explore some new variations on a bunch of teas I already knew and loved.
But for those of you who don’t know, they’re a somewhat artisan tea shop in Marylebone and if you like tea (I mean, really like tea) y’all need to get down there because you’re gonna have a good (and possibly expensive) time.
Since our last visit they have been rather busy. They’ll be opening a second site in Soho in the very near future (sometime around Summer 2015) – which will be in a slightly different format and with a dedicated matcha menu.
There’s talk that they’re developing their own take on the (increasingly popular) ‘bulletproof coffee’ – and their own ‘bulletproof macha’ (STRONG WANT).
The best of the new stuff we tried
We tried a few things – these were the exceptional ones that I would like you to know about:
Immuni-Tea (£1.99 regular size)
They market this one as an immunity booster. I’m not sure if it does this or not but it tastes LEGIT as hell. Amazingly sweet
Nutella Macha (£unknown – why is this not on the main menu?!)
My tasting notes read: “2legit2quit” – the hint of Nutella (and it is only a hint) conspires to add some sweetness plus some hazelnut creaminess. You may expect it to be overpowering but it really isn’t.
The iced version is even better. Straight up implausibly-wonderful in fact. It reminded me a little of a less intense ice cream (i.e: more ice, less cream?)
Yunnan Pu-erh (£1.99 regular size)
If you’ve tried Pu-Erh you’ll know that when I describe the taste as ‘swampy, smoky and slightly fishy’ that I mean this only in a good way. This is only the third time I can recall having this kind of tea, but of the three – this is the one I have enjoyed most so far.
The best of the things that are not new on the menu (but were new to me)
Cookie Dough Bubble Tea (plus blueberry bubbles) (£3.75 regular size)
*surfer voice ENGAGE* Dude, what can I say? *surfer voice DISENGAGE* It’s a bubble tea that tastes like a somewhat less aggressive version of cookie dough (yes, really). The bubbles contain a sweetened blueberry syrup which makes the whole thing even less ‘tea-like’ (but no less fun!)
Vanilla Bubble Tea (plus strawberry bubbles) (£3.75 regular size)
I only tried a little of this (’twas not mine). But it was on a similar level of hedonistic splendour to the cookie dough. Liquid ice cream pls/thx.
