Product review Go figa

When I was asked to review Go Figa I thought “I’ll give fig a go”. According to the press release figs are the new superfood. I don’t agree with the liberal use of this term, but I have always liked figs, and continue to do so in this powdered form.

Go Figa Review

What the fig?

Cheap pun, but it had to be done. The premise behind Go Figa is that it is a weight loss enhancing superfood powder, which is comprised of – you guessed it – figs, as well as other berries and chia seeds. Figs are packed with phytonutrients, which help improve digestive function. Included in Go Figa are also cinnamon, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, chia seeds and some other ‘superfoods’, which are reputed to promote satiety, increase brain function and regulate blood sugar.

It is gluten free, wheat free, dairy free and Paleo, which means it’s suited to most modern diets.

How’s that work?

The powder has been made to be included in smoothies, juice, water or yoghurt, as a detox food that promotes weight loss by increasing the full feeling. People could use it to top cereal too, but for me its best use is in smoothies.

What’s it like?

I love cinnamon, and figs for that matter, and so Go Figa makes a tasty addition to my smoothies in the morning. Its cinnamon flavour comes through in all of my creations, and I have even used it to flavour a carrot cake when I had no cinnamon left in the house. It tastes slightly sweet and a little spicy and has a nice flavour compared with some other smoothie powders I have encountered.

How much?

A 100g pouch of this powder retails at £14.99. They recommend using a teaspoon a day, which means that the packet should last something like ten to fifteen days, or a month if used every other day.

I don’t know much about the costs of other  health foods and slimming tablets, but I guess this is at least tasty, and hasn’t got caffeine or anything mind altering in it!

The verdict

I can’t say that since I started using Go Figa things have changed dramatically. I like its taste, it improves the taste of a smoothie, and I generally do feel full from my smoothies. But these are quite packed with ‘superfoods’ such as avocadoes, nuts and frozen berries, which means they are dense anyway.

The specifics

You can buy Go Figa and try it for yourself from www.gofiga.co.uk for £14.99 for 100g
