This month, Nipperkin at NIJŪ will celebrate women in the bar and hospitality industry with a month-long activation, through to March 31.

The festivities will begin with a curated drinks menu served across both the bar and restaurant, and include an exclusive roundtable discussion and three exciting bar takeovers on March 18, in partnership with The Ada Coleman Project; which supports the development of women in the hospitality and beverage industry.

The event, which is sponsored by Renais GinBrugal RumTequila Enemigo and Franklin & Sons Mixers, all of which are either women owned or represented, will bring together a number of the most influential women in the global bar industry including award-winning bartenders educators and advocates, for an inspiring conversation on career-building, innovation in mixology, and inclusivity within hospitality.

Roundtable Discussion & Bar Takeovers by Internationally Acclaimed Bartenders, 18th March

On Tuesday, March 18th, between 5 PM – 7 PM, Nipperkin at NIJŪ will host a panel of seven industry pioneers, including Nipperkin’s very own leading female force in mixology, Bar Supervisor, Catia Correia, to discuss career growth, groundbreaking mixology, and inclusivity in the hospitality industry. Catia will be joined by:

  • Kait Wilkes (UK) – Co-founder of The Ada Coleman Project and industry consultant.
  • Kristine Bocchino (Canada) – Co-founder of The Ada Coleman Project and hospitality mentor in the global bar scene.

Limited to 20 guests, the roundtable, which will require advance booking, will spotlight the journeys of influential women shaping the bar industry, sharing their inspiring stories, career-defining moments, and invaluable insights on breaking into and thriving in the world of hospitality.

Following the discussion, additional guests will be welcomed to experience Nipperkin’s signature serves and the limited edition cocktail menu crafted by the Nipperkin bar team, before three exciting bar takeovers by Christina Veira, Sara Moudoulaud, and Chloe Merz begin at 20:00.

Kaitlin Wilkes & Kristine Bocchino, Co-Founders of The Ada Coleman Project said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Nipperkin for ‘In Conversation with The Ada Coleman Project,’ creating a space to share stories, insights, and tangible advice on navigating careers in the drinks industry. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and by opening up these conversations, and having such amazing guest speakers along,  we hope to inspire more women and non-binary people to see the endless opportunities this industry has to offer.”

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Christina Veira, owner-bartender at Bar Mordecai will be entrusted with Nipperkin’s first takeover of the evening. Named one of the 50 Best Bars of North America in 2024, Bar Mordecai is an inclusive community-centric space, with a bespoke take on classics. Christina’s highly anticipated takeover at Nipperkin is not her only impactful event or social initiative – Her career has been driven by her dedication to education, community engagement, and advocacy, and her work consistently champions causes that empower women, people of colour, and the LGBTQ+ community, fostering inclusivity and meaningful change within the industry.

The second bar takeover will be by Sara Moudoulaud, co-owner-mixologist of Bar Nouveau, in Paris, France. Known for its elegant and deceptively simple drinks list created from its collection of vintage vermouths and liqueurs, at Bar Nouveau Sara utilises advanced equipment like the Rotavap (rotary evaporator) to create unique, house-made ingredients. This technology enables her to distill flavors at low temperatures, allowing for the extraction of delicate aromas and the development of sophisticated cocktails. Guests can expect to sample innovative cocktails using similar techniques during her hour-long residency at Nipperkin.

Chloe Merz, a Swiss-born, Hamburg-based bartender and entrepreneur, will perform the final takeover of the night, bringing elements from her own establishment, Collab Bar to Nipperkin. Collab Bar in Hamburg, operates with a collaborative, sustainable ethos, emphasizing a diverse menu featuring a significant selection of alcohol-free cocktails.

Throughout the month, until March 31st, Nipperkin will offer three bespoke cocktails, as part of this activation, crafted by the Nipperkin bar team in collaboration with the event’s sponsors — Renais Gin,  Tequila Enemigo, Brugal Rum, and Franklin & Sons Mixers.

Drinks include the ‘Ramson Martini’ – a savoury martini made with Renais gin and one of Nipperkin’s signature drinks, the ‘Goosebery & Stormy’ – a refreshing and slightly picante highball-style serve, and lastly, ‘Tomato & Shiso’ – an umami hybrid between a margarita and a gimlet made with Enemigo anejo cristalino.
