Jordon Ezra King as its 2025 collaborator, bringing his culinary vision to Isla at The Standard, Kings Cross, for the Spring season.
He will take over the menu at the hotel’s relaxed all-day restaurant, drawing inspiration from Italian food and its many cross-cultural influences across the Mediterranean region.
After spending time in some of London and Paris’ favourite restaurants, including Rubedo, Brawn, Le Saint Europé, Burro e Salvia, and Yard, before moving to the Mob test kitchen as a recipe developer, his bold, ingredient-led cooking has earned a devoted following.
Kicking off on Wednesday, March 19th, and running until Sunday 29th June; Ezra King’s three-month takeover at Isla will showcase a menu rooted in Italian cuisine while drawing inspiration from Italy’s neighboring countries and culinary traditions, particularly the cuisines of North Africa and the Levant.
The menu starts with a selection of snacks, including crisp polenta and crostini with lemon labneh and anchovies.
Starters include burrata with endive and citrus, pizza fritta topped with fresh ricotta, dates, sumac, and mint, and tuna crudo with sweet onions, capers, and Urfa chili.
For mains, braised lamb and orzo are slow-cooked with saffron and winter tomatoes, calamarata pasta is served with a fragrant fennel and orange seafood ragu, and the Chicken Milanese panino is also available.
Sides include grilled cabbage with sherry butter and almonds, sprouting broccoli with lemon and bagna cauda.
To finish, a trio of desserts; honey and chamomile panna cotta, orange and almond cake, and a rich chocolate torte and amarena cherries.
To complement the experience, The Standard, London has partnered with Campari on an exclusive cocktail list, showcasing the following drinks: a Lemon and Black Pepper Negroni, crafted with the unmistakable red bitterness of Campari, gin, sweet vermouth, and a lemon infusion, alongside a Blood Orange Campari Bellini and of course a classic Standard, London Campari Negroni and a refreshing Campari Spritz.
Additionally, select dishes will be available through in-room dining, with the Chicken Milanese Panino, and Campari cocktail creations, available to hotel guests.
Ezra King said: “I’m interested in the fundamental idea that all great food is the result of movement: the movement of people, ingredients and ideas. Those elements coming together in the right place at the right time is the catalyst for almost everything we eat.”
Jordon’s menu at Isla will run from 19th March. Bookings are open now and can be made here.
