Kentish Town’s newest Filipino bakery, Café Mama & Sons, is adding a showstopper to its pastry line-up: the Ube Mochi Croissant. Launching Friday 15th August (£5.90), the bow-shaped creation pairs the rich, earthy flavour of ube with a hint of vanilla in a flaky, laminated croissant shell.
Inside, a bespoke ube mochi sits tucked within the pastry, brushed with sugar syrup and finished with toasted coconut flakes. Tear it open for the purple-layered reveal — and that satisfying mochi pull.
Since opening in April, Café Mama & Sons has made its mark blending Filipino classics with Japanese influences, turning out hits like Banana Ensaymada pudding and Milo Tiramisu. The drinks menu keeps pace, with summer specials such as Corn Fields (sweetcorn milk with espresso), Ube Matcha, and the bright pink Sala Ade (snakefruit syrup, lime, soda).
The all-day menu also includes hearty sandos — Corned Beef, Adobo Mushroom, and the Jerk Chicken Club remain favourites.
