Butchies began in 2013 when founder Garrett and his wife returned to London after a stint in New York.

They fell in love with the fried chicken and the buzzy counter service bodegas, delis, pizza slice shops, taquerias, and burger joints that are an important part of the fabric of the city.

They set about creating London’s ultimate fried chicken sandwich experience.

The Butchies original fried buttermilk chicken recipe was developed over 10 painstaking months before being served up at street food markets, music festivals and pop-ups. Butchies was a huge hit, with ever-growing queues and demand leading to the first restaurant opening on Rivington Street in Shoreditch in 2017. Since then Butchies have been spreading the love across London with a total of 6 restaurants across the city.

Speaking about the latest opening, Butchies’ founder Garrett said, “We could not be more excited to be opening here. We have wanted to open in London Bridge for years!! We were actually under offer on this site before COVID hit in 2020. We’ve come so far from our pop-up days, but our mission to serve the best buttermilk fried chicken sandwich in the world is still the same as it’s always been. We cannot wait to spread Butchies love at London Bridge.”
