Wine lovers in West London will have two opportunities to spend an evening with Tom Gilbey when the popular wine expert hosts a pair of exclusive dinners at Sam’s Waterside in Brentford this spring.
Taking place on 27 May and 2 June, the one-off events will see Gilbey join Sam’s Waterside co-founder Sam Harrison for a five-course menu, with each dish paired with one of Gilbey’s favourite wines.
Known to many as “The Wine Guy”, Gilbey has built a substantial following through his accessible and entertaining approach to wine, attracting hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. Ahead of the release of his second book and a forthcoming UK and Ireland tour, he’ll be sharing stories from his career while guiding guests through each pairing over the course of the evening.
The experience begins with oysters and a glass of sparkling wine before moving into the tasting menu, with Gilbey offering insights into each bottle and the thinking behind the pairings. Guests will also have the chance to take part in a live Q&A covering everything from wine to his unexpected rise as one of the UK’s best-known online wine personalities.
Opened in 2023, Sam’s Waterside is the Brentford sibling to Sam’s Riverside in Hammersmith, serving modern British cooking with an emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced produce. Overlooking the dock and canal at The Brentford Project, the restaurant has quickly established itself as one of West London’s standout neighbourhood dining destinations.
Tickets for the wine dinners are £95 per person, with places expected to be limited.
