Chelsea’s King’s Road is set to welcome a new addition this autumn with the launch of Arthur’s Market, a premium grocery store and dining destination that brings together a fishmonger, butcher, deli and two counter-top restaurants under one roof.
By day, Arthur’s Market will serve as a high-end grocer for locals and destination food lovers, offering artisan cheeses, seasonal fruit and vegetables, indulgent dairy and rare Japanese delicacies. Shelves will also be stocked with cupboard staples, fine olive oils, caviar and a range of own-label wines created in partnership with the Prince Arthur, its sister pub in Belgravia.
At the heart of the market is a fish counter described as unlike anything else in West London. Alongside classic varieties, shoppers will find whole Spanish tuna, carabineros, blue belly prawns and several types of sea urchin. Fish is sourced both locally, from suppliers in Cornwall and Scotland, and internationally, with Japanese imports that are rarely seen in the UK. A butcher’s counter will complement the fish offering, providing premium cuts of meat for home cooking and for the on-site kitchens.
Two distinct dining experiences anchor the space. ASA Izakaya, led by chef Shaulan Steenson (Endo at the Rotunda, Hakkoku, Sushi Jin), focuses on hand rolls and sushi by day, expanding into an intimate izakaya by night. Guests can expect precise Japanese dishes such as squid kasudzuke nigiri, scallop nigiri and langoustine nigiri, alongside an extensive caviar and roe programme. The sake list features bottles from top producers including Dassai Beyond, Juyondai and Isojiman.
Next door, Salvador offers a European counter experience built around a wood-fired grill. The menu includes beef tartar with barrel-aged soy, bone marrow and confit egg yolk, pork presa with nduja bean stew, and daily specials featuring rare cuts and unique fish supplied by the market. A curated wine bar completes the experience, with bottles sourced from across the globe.
As evening falls, Arthur’s Market transforms from a premium grocer into a dining destination, with ASA Izakaya and Salvador showcasing the very produce sold by day. With its dual role as market and restaurant, the new venue aims to offer Chelsea residents both exceptional ingredients for home and two new reasons to dine out.
