Boutique hotel Mama Shelter, will launch its new restaurant – Mama’s French Kitchen – at its Hackney Road outpost, Mama Shelter London – Shoreditch,today.
It will take inspiration from Mama’s French roots with a selection of dishes “à la Française”, whilst celebrating seasonal, local produce.
Mama’s French Kitchen will offer traditional French dishes with a twist. The all-day menu features salt & chilli frogs’ legs with wild garlic and grelot onions, confit duck poutine with duck fat chips and crispy onions, chicken paillard club sandwich with baked garlic, bacon crumb and coq au vin ketchup as well as fish dishes, like hake papillote with fennel, preserved lemon and dill.
Sides include cheesy truffle frites. Sundays will also see the return of Mama’s roasts, including beef wellington served with Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roasted potatoes, cauliflower cheese, maple glazed parsnips, shallots & gravy for £23.
Desserts of Rum soaked pineapple, coconut & lime sorbet and brulee’d pain perdu will also be available.
A bar menu of French kitchen dishes will also be served in Mama’s Garden Bar, an outdoor courtyard oasis with a retractable glass roof.
The 100-cover restaurant features vintage lamps and a twist on the English lace doily, paired with dark wooden interiors, coloured macramé and Liberty prints. The chalkboard ceilings are adorned with graffiti by graphic designer and artist Beniloys, while table football and a giant in-built Twister board ensure guests are entertained during their visit.
The first Mama Shelter was launched in Paris, followed by Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Prague, Belgrade, Toulouse, Lille, London, Paris West, and Luxembourg.
Future Mama Shelter locations are planned for Rome, Lisbon, Paris La Défense, Bucharest, Bahrain, Dubai.
