Yam Carnival 2021: festival celebrating black culture lands in Clapham Common in August

A brand new music festival celebrating “Black culture from around the world” is launching in London’s Clapham Common for the first time this year. 

Yam Carnival, which was due to make its inaugural appearance last year but got cancelled due to Covid, will take place on Saturday, August 28. 

Headlined by Nigerian star Davido, the festival will be spread across three stages and welcome the artists including Kehlani, Yemi Alade, Pa Salieu, Nao, Honey Dijon, Fatoumata Diawara and Princess Nokia.

Darkoo, Ms Banks, Ari Lennox, Fally Ipupa, Femi Kuti, IAMDDB are also slated to perform. The full line-up so far is below.

Organisers also say an array of “African-influenced food trucks and chefs from around London” will be on offer – more details on these to follow!

Yam Carnival is yet another addition to an already packed festival calendar on the final weekend of August. All Points East, Field Day and Maiden Voyage will take place in London, while Creamfields, Reading and Leeds and Victorious are among the big-name festivals set to happen around the country.
