The Standard, London, is thrilled to announce a series of events in celebration of Diwali and Black History Month, featuring chef Ravneet Gill, founder of Countertalk and judge on Junior Bake Off; cook and baker Tarunima Sinha, author of the recently published ‘My Little Cake Tin’; and designer Priya Ahluwalia, ceative director and founder of fashion label, Ahluwalia.
From November 1 to 3, Ravneet Gill and Tarunima Sinha will curate a Diwali-inspired menu at Isla, The Standard’s all-day restaurant.
Guests are invited to enjoy a selection of Indian dishes from 12pm to 10pm.
The menu includes vegan beetroot chop with chilli chutney and aloo tikki chaat.
For mains, diners can choose from grilled masala paneer in makhni gravy or vegan masala mushroom with makhni gravy.
Accompanying sides will include boondi raita (with a coconut yoghurt option), mango kachumber, and rice.
Desserts will feature gajar halwa, available in both vegetarian and vegan options.
As part of the celebration, The Standard, London will feature a bookshelf, curated by Ahluwalia.
Among the books featured are Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, a powerful exploration of the legacy of slavery across generations; India in Africa, Africa in India edited by John C. Hawley, which highlights the complex historical ties between the two regions; and Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo.
The curated shelf will be accessible from Monday 28 October to guests visiting the lounge, and the collaboration will also include a panel talk where guests can hear Priya discuss her work and its connection to the themes of the selected books
