This summer, Eroshan and Aushi Meewella – the husband-and-wife duo behind Kolamba – will unveil ADOH!, a new Sri Lankan street food concept on Covent Garden’s Maiden Lane.

With the name drawn from a common Sri Lankan exclamation of surprise or greeting, ADOH! promises to bring a punchier, more fast-paced counterpart to the couple’s existing Kolamba restaurants.

Following the success of Kolamba Soho (opened in 2019) and Kolamba East in Shoreditch (2024), the Meewellas are diving deeper into the island’s culinary landscape, this time, with a focus on the dynamic, informal energy of street food.

At the heart of the ADOH! menu is kothu, the beloved Sri Lankan dish of chopped roti stir-fried with vegetables, eggs, and curry sauce on a hot griddle. Guests can choose between four varieties: crab, chicken, mutton, or jackfruit, all served in the fast, theatrical style that’s become synonymous with street vendors across the island.

Beyond kothu, diners can expect chilli prawn toast with tamarind sauce – a nod to Galle’s coastal street snacks – as well as crispy mutton rolls, devilled sausages, and vadai (savoury lentil doughnuts served with coconut, tomato and mint chutneys). For mains, highlights include fried chicken with curry leaf waffle, inspired by Aushi’s childhood memories, and Chinese-style seafood fried rice, a much-loved hybrid found across Sri Lanka.

Dessert brings a playful twist in the form of a salted jaggery soft serve, blending the island’s traditional caramel-like syrup with the nostalgia of British ice cream vans. To drink, ADOH! will serve Sri Lankan draught beer, alongside a tight edit of cocktails, wine, and softs.

Eroshan Meewella said: “We’re excited to be honouring the food stories from our home country and bringing another aspect of our culinary heritage to London in Covent Garden. ADOH! will celebrate Sri Lankan street food at its finest – from fried rice, to small bites on the beach in Colombo, and of course, the theatre of kothu making.”

The 70-cover space will be walk-in only, open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Designed by Whitebox London in collaboration with Sri Lankan designers and artists, the restaurant’s interiors will blend industrial grit with nostalgic charm. Expect corrugated metal sheeting, stainless steel counters, and pops of sun-faded colour – all echoing the textures and materials of Sri Lanka’s bustling food stalls. A further 12 al fresco covers will extend the space outdoors.
