Tucked inside the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, Chop Chop by Four Seasons brings Cantonese dining to London’s West End with playful flair. Open until 4am daily, it’s one of the city’s few late-night options serving dim sum, roast meats and lobster noodles deep into the night.
The Ambience
Set on the lower ground floor of the Hippodrome Casino, the restaurant has a moody, intimate atmosphere with neon lighting and tucked-away booths that offer privacy even on a bustling evening. It’s compact but thoughtfully designed, with a relaxed energy that makes it feel more like a well-kept secret than part of a major entertainment venue.
The Food
Dinner begins with crisp prawn crackers and a mildly spicy chilli oil, which brings out the savoury depth of the starter. Salt and pepper prawns arrive golden and crackling; the crispy garlic clings to the batter, and fresh chilli cuts through with a warming heat. Stir-fried kailan with ginger acts as a palate cleanser ,before a slow-cooked bowl of braised beef comes steaming. Its deep, soy-rich broth is perfumed with star anise and packed with tendrils of meat that simply fall apart.
Next come the signature roast meats — char siu, crispy pork and the restaurant’s fa med duck — each cut expertly and layered with textures from crisp skin to meltingly tender meat. These can also be added to soup for further tectural variety but steamed rice works perfectly to let the flavours speak for themselves.
The
lobster noodles, served with a cracking kit and in a trio of flavour options, are the standout. Ginger and spring onion sauce allows the sweetness of the lobster to shine, and the visual presentation is just as impressive.
Cocktails lean towards playful Asian influences, but cold beer proves the better pairing for the food’s layered spices and savoury depth. Tsingtao cuts cleanly through the richness, allowing each dish to remain the focus.
The Verdict
Chop Chop offers some of the most flavourful late-night dining in central London, with well-executed Cantonese classics and standout roast meats. For anyone craving bold, balanced dishes after hours, it’s an excellent find.
