In Japan, Mother’s Day – or Haha No Hi – is celebrated by treating mothers to a multi-course feast as an expression of their love and appreciation.
At Junsei, a new lunchtime omakase tasting menu has been launched from 25th-27th March.
From grilled yakitori skewers to donburi rice dishes topped with meat, egg and vegetables, the meal will showcase some of Japanese ingredients and flavours.
The meal includes a complimentary glass of champagne or bellini across the weekend.
Served omakase style, the limited-edition tasting menu starts with six skewers, cooked over Binchōtan charcoal, a white variety made from Japanese oak considered the purest charcoal in the world. Skewers will range from chicken thigh or gizzard to quail eggs, okra, and eryingi King Oyster mushroom.
A traditional donburi rice bowl will follow, with a choice of Oyako Don (chicken & egg), Soboro Don (ground chicken) and Shroom Don (mushroom). The menu finishes with either sticky toffee pudding or chocolate fondant.
Junsei’s Mother’s Day tasting menu is available for lunch from 25-27th March for £50pp and must be ordered by the whole table. Book via https://junsei.co.uk/reservations/.
