Jamie Oliver’s chefing apprentice school Fifteen has built up an impressive name for itself since its inception and it has joined forces with one of the county’s most luxury resorts The Idle Rocks Hotel in St. Mawes for a special charity event being held at The Idle Rocks tomorrow night – the 12th of March.
Fifteeen Cornwall Apprentice Programme
Raising funds for the Fifteen Cornwall Apprentice Programme, the evening will include a symphony of Cornish seafood and local produce, presented as a five course menu. Over the last nine years, the Apprentice Program has graduated over 100 chefs who have gone on to open or work in exemplary restaurants around Cornwall. Through Jamie’s own trademark passion, Fifteen Cornwall uses the magic of food to transform the lives of young people within the county by unlocking talent through great training and mentoring.
Testament to success
As would always be expected where Fifteen and the Idle Rocks are both involved, there will be a celebration of local food and drink at the five course tasting event, which combines the exceptional skills of Guy Owen from the Idle Rocks with successful chefs from the apprentice scheme. The main course will be presented by The Idle Rocks’ Senior Chef de Partie, Matthew Macdonald, a graduate of Fifteen Cornwall who was given the Personal Development Award in 2013. This demonstrates the success of the programme.
The Idle Rocks
Acquired by David and Karen Richards in 2010, The Idle Rocks has gone from strength to strength as a boutique, luxury hotel in Cornwall. With its stunning seaside location and temperatures set to reflect the spring this weekend, we can imagine no finer place to sit and enjoy the feast provided by this excellent collaboration. Described by The Guardian as ‘the coolest pad around‘, the ambience at The Idle Rocks is created by Karen’s fantastic interior renovation.
