e5 Bakehouse will be the food and drink operator at the V&A East Storehouse, in Hackney Wick opening on May 31 2025.
e5 Storehouse will be the third in e5 Bakehouse’s independently run and owned cafe-bakeries.
e5 Bakehouse and V&A East Storehouse have formed a partnership with the shared commitment of bringing together communities with a strong focus on creativity, equity and sustainability, and creating a relaxed space with a locally sourced food and drink offer for visitors.
Responding to the Storehouse design concept by Diller Scofidio & Renfro, e5’s Storehouse cafe design will reflect the existing e5 Bakehouse and Poplar Bakehouse’s existing aesthetic of earthy tones, bright colours and industrial materials for a playful, yet relaxed feel with recognisable elements from both sites. Modular design elements will allow the cafe to transform into an events and temporary display space.
V&A East Storehouse will immerse visitors in over half a million works, spanning every creative discipline and take them behind the scenes of its busy working stores.
V&A East Storehouse is the first of V&A East’s two new sites to open as part of East Bank, the new arts and culture district in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Louise Lateur, e5 Bakehouse’s Managing Director said: “We’re very excited to work alongside V&A East Storehouse teams to conceptualise e5 Bakehouse’s third cafe, e5 Storehouse. Alongside artisanal baking, e5 Bakehouse has always been interested in design and sustainability. We’re working closely with V&A East Storehouse to design a cafe that inspires creativity and communal dining. e5 Storehouse will operate as a cafe deli with our familiar pastries, bread and coffee, alongside a simple breakfast and lunch offering. The cafe will also host events and talks to be introduced after the initial opening period.”
