From November 4, Café Deco, the debut solo restaurant and wine bar from head chef Anna Tobias and the team behind 40 Maltby Street, will now welcome guests on Mondays for both lunch and dinner.
The menu at Café Deco changes weekly, reflecting the exact produce that their local independent suppliers and farms deliver.
There are variations on soups, stews and salads that lean on broadly European influences, with hearty, eastern European and British-style dishes in the autumn and winter, and lighter French and Italian-inspired fare during the warmer months.
Current highlights include pork goulash and spätzle; gnudi with cavolo nero sauce; and signature eggs mayonnaise.
The wine list, curated by General Manager Benedict Clancy, follows a similar philosophy, includes wines from importers Gergovie Wines, Otros Vinos, and Tutto Wines.
The selection of wines by the glass changes daily, with the entire list refreshed weekly to complement Tobias’s evolving menu.
The space, designed by Michael Marriott in collaboration with architects Casswell Bank, embraces a sustainable approach through reclaimed materials and furniture, including bespoke curtains made from fabric offcuts.
The restaurant’s pastel-hued tiling lines the floor, while a hand-painted mural by London-based design duo Anna Hodgson and Harry Darby, depicting scenes of harvest and bounty, pays homage to the works of French artist Jean Cocteau.
