Latin American restaurant Amazónico, in partnership with One Tree Planted, is launching a tree-planting initiative for World Rainforest Day on 22 June.
On the day, Amazónico has pledged to plant one tree for every guest that dines in each of its restaurants in London and Dubai. In addition, across both sites, the restaurant’s signature cocktail ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ will be renamed ‘Save the Jungle’, raising awareness of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest every day. After the 22nd, a tree will be planted for every Save the Jungle cocktail ordered in London and Dubai.
Diana Chaplin, Canopy Director at One Tree Planted said, “We’re proud to work with partners who are dedicated to taking real action for sustainability. Thanks to support from Amazónico, these reforestation efforts will help restore the Amazon Rainforest for biodiversity and contribute to the long-term health of forests.”
Aurelien Pottier, General Manager at Amazónico London, comments, “In a big city it is easy to feel detached from the terrible deforestation happening in the Amazon rainforest, but it is increasingly important to raise awareness and contribute to the cause in any way possible.”
