A new addition to central London’s dining scene has arrived as The Orangery Tottenham Court Road officially opens its doors.

Located close to the West End, the British Museum and Oxford Street, the all-day dining destination focuses on hyper-local produce, seasonal British ingredients and farm-to-table practices.

The restaurant houses the largest on-site hydroponic farm in London, developed in partnership with Square Mile Farms.

Situated beneath the restaurant, the farm grows 35,000 pesticide-free plants using vertical farming techniques.

The system uses up to 90% less water than traditional methods and produces a yield equivalent to 1.1 acres of conventional farmland.

Around 70% of the harvest is used on-site in the restaurant, with the remainder donated monthly to local schools, communities and charities across Camden.

Produce is grown year-round with the help of LED lighting, nutrient-rich water circulation and controlled growing conditions.

The farm supplies much of the menu, including dishes such as leek and shallot tart with farm cavolo nero, Herefordshire beef with baked celeriac and farm relish, and Scottish halibut with farm chard and sea herb butter.

A chef’s table located in the farm itself offers a private dining experience with a bespoke tasting menu surrounded by the crops featured on the plate.

The Orangery also runs educational tours for local schools and hosts community events such as gardening clubs, harvests and seminars on urban farming.

These initiatives form part of a wider mission to promote sustainable food systems and improve access to environmentally conscious dining.

Now open, The Orangery TCR offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
