Covent Garden wine bar, Plume, which is set in the old publishing house of Charles Dickens, is acknowledging the anniversary (on 20 October) of his classic story, A Christmas Carol by serving his favourite drink.

To this day, the bar and restaurant celebrates Dickens’s life, including keeping a ‘pint of champagne’ – the equivalent of four glasses – on the menu, something that Dickens was infamous for drinking daily to fuel his writing creativity.

There is also a blue plaque on the wall and additional Dickensian themes throughout.

20th October marks the historical anniversary of “A Christmas Carol”, which has become synonymous with the holiday season, and the coming months offer a chance to reflect on Dickens’s enduring legacy and the impact of his literary contributions.

The bar and restaurant also offers literary lovers the chance to enjoy an expansive range of wines with food including flatbreads, posh hot dogs and cheese board selection, whilst immersing themselves in Dickensian Victorian history.

Part of a trilogy of bars, Plume lives up to its namesake by creating an experiential environment which ranges from Tarot card reading to secret notes passed amongst customers in a unique event which takes place every Tuesday.
