Irish publican Leigh White has opened another pub in the Smok’d family, this time in Battersea.
The Candlemaker is the third pub in the group, which also includes The Grey Horse Smok’d, in Kingston and The Britannia Smok’d, in London Bridge.
Smok’d specialises in smoked meats cooked on the BBQ.
Prior to cooking, all meats are smoked in-house, with each cut being smoked for up to twelve hours after being brined and coated in the secret Smok’d recipe rub.
Alongside the barbecue they are renowned for their Sunday Roast (or Sm’oast) as well as the special Burger and Vegan Burgers of the Month.
Whisky also plays a central role at Smok’d.
White, along with Joy Bowers, a key player in the operational management team with extensive drinks knowledge, has carefully curated a whisky selection to ensure there is something for everyone.
Live entertainment is integral to Smok’d’s identity.
White, a standup comedian himself, actively supports emerging talent in drama and music.
The Grey Horse is home to Ram Jam Records, which is located on the former grounds of the iconic Ram Jam Club which once played host to musical legends such as Jimmi Hendrix.
Today, it remains a hub for emerging local talent and is one of the few surviving independent arts venues.
