Firebird, Soho’s female-owned, open-fire restaurant will invite London’s female chefs, restaurateurs and sommeliers to create a series of experiences in celebration of International Women’s Month. On Friday 8 March, Adriana Cavita and Ana Ortiz have teamed up on a collaborative menu centred around flame and fire cooking. Guests will receive a smoky mezcal welcome cocktail from female-led distillers Maya Jules, alongside a choice of natural Mexican wines from the trendy Bichi winery.
The Pilgrm will run a Women in Wine charity event on Thursday 7 March. The night will be hosted The Guardian’s wine writer, Fiona Beckett, and VinaLupa founder Emily Harman – The Pilgrm’s very own sommelier, who will be inviting guests to raise a glass to the female trailblazers in the world of wine. The event includes a guided curated wine tasting featuring accessible wines produced by female winemakers. Following the tasting, Fiona and Emily will be joined by guest speaker Christina Rasmussen, writer, educator, and recently turned winemaker, for an interactive discussion on the pivotal role of women in the wine industry. The Pilgrm are partnering with Equal Measures 2030, who work towards fostering a more inclusive and equitable world. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the organisation.
Big Mamma – THESE GIRLS ARE ON FIRE!
At Big Mamma, they’re celebrating female employees, from pastry maestros to the bar team with a new cocktail, as well as partnering with The Circle to raise funds to help women in crisis across the globe.
Spice Up Her Life, a fiery concoction crafted by Romagnola cocktail whizz Marica, is a blend of tequila, passion fruit syrup, Fever Tree ginger ale, and honey, with a spicy kick of ginger and chili. On 8 March, a shining bunch of yellow mimosa flowers (the Italo symbol for Women’s Day) will be available for customers to take away – from female-founded floristry Pollenet. Big Mamma’s ‘Spice Up Her Life’ (£11) is available from 4 – 17 March at Gloria, Circolo Popolare, Ave Mario, Jacuzzi and Carlotta. £1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to The Circle, who support women-led global feminism within communities, with bunches of Mimosa flowers from Pollenet handed out on 8th March for IWD.
