Butterfly and the Bee currently have 11 jams and marmalades available on their website in a wide variety of flavours, ranging from standard orange marmalade to plum and garam masala jam. The combinations that they use seem really appealing and although I only tried two of the flavours I’d happily try more of the unique tastes that they have created.
All of the jams that they create are made in small batches using traditional French copper pans and only use fruit, sugar, lemon juice and flavourings, so whilst not making them the healthiest of toppings for your toast, do guarantee an additive and preservative free product.
I tried the Strawberry, Basil and Lime and the Apricot and Amaretto jams and found the flavours to be obvious but not overwhelming, which was a pleasant surprise. Both of them were very sweet and I found that you couldn’t consume massive amounts at once (I tried, I’m very much into eating sweet things by the spoonful late at night) they were really enjoyable and tasty.
They really are adding something new to to the traditional taste of “ordinary” jam flavours which works really well.
The Verdict:
These jams really move away from the traditional flavours of jam and offer a variety of unique flavours that wouldn’t necessarily be automatically put together.
For anyone that enjoys a twist on basic flavour matches, or even just enjoys jam, I would highly recommend these products as they are delightful…
