Tideford Organics soups are all about health and flavour. The chilled soups are gluten free, wheat free, low salt and low fat. They sent us a few of their summer range to sample, a range of fresh flavours that could be eaten hot or cold. The bright coloured soups delivered flavour punches as strong as their palettes and even inspired our resident reviewer/artist Jay to create some soup art!
So here’s a run down of the flavours:
Organic beetroot soup with crème fraiche and dill
Wow, what an amazing soup! The colour of it in the bowl was so exciting, as an artist this is what appeals to me. It looked almost like a dessert, like a vivid raspberry coulis, not something you often find in savoury food and something I had to put out of my mind in order to try it. I was very surprised by the flavour, it was a lovely, subtle sweet taste, light but with some texture as there were fine shreds of beetroot within it.
The soup was really filling and the large pot (600g) could feed two as a light meal or four as a starter. I’d recommend this as a great soup for a dinner party as it’s so unusual with such a strong colour and a surprisingly mellow taste. All in all a wonderful, very different soup.
The creative within me was so inspired by this soup that I used the leftovers to paint a couple of pictures with – introducing soup art (below)!
Organic pea and mint
I found this soup the best in texture and flavour. Whilst a little too watery to paint well with, this makes it a great texture for eating as its very smooth and easy to eat with a little crunch of peas and a spike of mint. The two flavours balance each other out making it the perfect all-round flavour, especially for a warm but rainy summer day.
Organic Gazpacho
This fresh tomato soup is designed to be served in the traditional way of the Spanish – cold! I am not a fan of cold soup at all, so I chickened out and heated it up. This soup has the strongest taste, a tad too strong for my liking (sorry). Thick and chunky with subtle spicing. This one is great for those who like a little bit of adventure in their lives and are braver than me. A good summer edition to the collection.

This soups are fresh and filling and full of goodness. Available in 600g pots and 300g microwavable pots with heat proof sleeves, perfect for those on the go or settling in at home for the night. Prices start from around £2.79 and are available from most supermarkets and organic food stores.
