Rating:

Cuisine:

Moroccan & Lebanese… with a Brazilian twist

In A Word:

‘Amalgamating’

Suited To:

People who observe a meat centric, Halal way of eating.

Non Halal meat fiends who don’t care for pork.

People who haven’t eaten for a day, or competitive eaters ‘practising’.

Rodizio fans and fusioneers of every kind who are looking for something a little different.

Large parties of people who want a reasonably priced meal and no waiting time between courses.

People who like a lot of variety in a single sitting and complete control over their portion sizes (just pile as much or as little as you like onto your plate…)

Rodizio Lebanon Fulham Broadway - Front Entrance, Arabic Lettering
Head on down to Jerdan Place and look out for the Arabic sign – you can’t miss it. In the summer, we’d also imagine there’d be people out front smoking shisha, as this is an option here.

Lizzie: Fancy some Morocco-Lebanese cuisine right in the heart of south London?

Fresh from its recent reopening, Rodizio Lebanon is literally a stones throw away from the busy Fulham Broadway station. Claiming to be the first ‘authentic Lebanese Rodizio outside of Sao Paulo’, Rodizio Lebanon offers traditional Lebanese dishes with an exciting Brazilian infusion.

Rodizio Lebanon Fulham Broadway - Interior Shot At Restaurant
Ed: The restaurant is centred around the buffet area in the middle. Like many Rodizios, you are able to come and refill your plate at your leisure. Which, coupled with people delivering you meat on a skewer, means you can essentially eat as much as you want.

The Food:

Boasting a ‘truly unique dining experience’ the concept is very simple – meat, and plenty of it!  [Ed: though the buffet in the middle centres mainly on the Middle Eastern part of this fusion  diffusion…]

On arrival we were given two coloured cards. All we had to do was flip the cards depending on how hungry we were. Red for no, green for go. Once we sent out our warning signal to the chef, the meat was almost instantly brought to our table by the professional passadors (meat carvers to us common folk) and calved right in front of us. Straight from the charcoal oven to our shiny white plates. Brilliant!

Rodizio Lebanon Fulham Broadway - Meat on skewer
Ed: Look…it’s chicken…on a skewer!

We were treated to a vast amount of meat ranging from lamb chops [Ed: tiny, tiny lamb chops.] and chicken shawarma, to spicy sausages and chicken wings. And they’re just the bits I said yes to. Personal favourite would have to be the beef kebab hands down [Ed: I second this…]. It was succulent and full of flavour – just what you would hope for from a traditional Lebanese recipe with a Brazilian twang.

Rodizio Rico - Meat on a metal tray
Ed: One variant of the lamb arrives on a tray. It is shredded, and it is delicious.

Alongside the copious amounts of meats on offer were a range of hot and cold mezze dishes to help yourself to. On one side they had their staple Lebanese sides including homemade hummus, stuffed vine leaves, tabbouleh salad and falafel. On the other were an array of quirky Brazilian fused street food dishes made from fresh and exotic ingredients. [Ed: And, like most middle Eastern joints, don’t expect to get pork – I’m cool with this.]

Rodizio Lebanon Fulham - Buffet area
Ed: You’ll also find oils, sauces, non edible sculptures and (also non edible) ceramic items in the buffet area…

The stuffed vine leaves were something else [Ed: yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh buddy]. Having become a fan of these recently it was nice to see the traditional recipe tampered with to give it a different take.

Rodizio Lebanon Fulham Broadway - Plate WIth Buffet Items
Ed: Here are the vine leaves, with some Labneh (Middle Eastern strained yoghurt) and minced aubergine with peppers
Rodizio Lebanon Fulham Broadway - Cold Mezze Selection
Ed: As you can see, they also do ‘gigantes’ style beans in tomatoes, lamb meatballs, and what are essentially the Moroccan version of a plain Dorito(?)….

The Verdict:

A surprisingly nice venue with something available for everyone, even the herbivores in your friendship group [Ed: but it’s probably not very vegan friendly] . The card switching service allows you to get your money worth and means you leave feeling sufficiently stuffed and satisfied [Ed: competitive eating is optional]. Perfect for friendly get-togethers and damn right tasty too.
